FAQs

You should never take more than the maximum daily amount listed on the label. Taking more acetaminophen than directed may harm your liver. Daily maximums vary by:

  • TYLENOL® product (Regular Strength, Extra Strength, Extended Release).

  • Frequency of dosing.

  • Whether you're taking other medicines with acetaminophen.

For the right dosage for you or your child, check out our dosing charts for infants, children, and adults. If you’re still unsure, ask a doctor or pharmacist.

In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away (1-800-222-1222). Quick medical attention is critical for adults, as well as children, even if you do not notice any signs or symptoms.

Ask a doctor before use if you have liver disease. Severe liver damage may occur if you take 3 or more alcoholic drinks every day while using products containing acetaminophen.
